No they aren't. No one deserves to be treated like a criminal just because of their religion. I believe in profiling to stop crime, but this kind of law is no better than the Japanese internment camps.

And this is why the left calls the right bigots and racists. Yes, most terrorists are muslim, but not all muslims are terrorists. Many, probably most, are actually peaceful and law abiding. I don't support bringing in refugees and I don't like how the fbi is scared to investigate a legitimate complaint against muslims, but if you believe in things like the 5th amendment then this kind of thing is wrong. Either you get protected rights for everyone, or we amend the constitution to get rid of rigts for anyone. Pretty simple.

I agree with you on 5th amendment rights for Americans, although I think you meant to say the 4th amendment. We need to profile those likely to be terrorists or giving safe harbor to them, but there needs to be probable cause to go further such wire taps and search warrants.

Two reasons for bringing up our amendment. First is that this case was taken up to a high court in Japan, meaning they either have something similar in their constitution, or at least have a similar law. Our (supposedly similar) amendment was the best example I had of why this is wrong. Second is that one person said Japan is doing the right thing. I inferred he was suggesting that we should be doing so as well, and that is mainly what I was discussing.

Even if Japan had no law against that kind of treatement or harrassment, I would still consideer it a violation of basic rights since I believe that rights enshrinned in our Constitution should apply to all human beings.
