WASHINGTON -- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz ended his presidential campaign Tuesday, eliminating the biggest impediment to Donald Trump's march to the Republican nomination. The conservative tea party firebrand who cast himself as the only viable alternative to Trump announced his exit after a stinging defeat in Indiana's Republican primary. "It appears that path has been foreclosed," Cruz told supporters in Indianapolis. "Together, we left it all on the field of Indiana. We gave it everything

Ted Cruz is ending his campaign for president, putting Donald Trump on a glide path to claim the Republican Party’s nomination.

The conservative firebrand and Texas senator had tried to cast himself as the only viable alternative to the billionaire businessman. But his campaign said he was to announce his decision to drop out of the race after losing to Trump in Tuesday’s Indiana primary.

Although I like Cruz, I'm glad of this. Now Trump can get to destroying Hillary.

We lose either way. And I doubt he beats her. The Clintons have proven themselves to be untouchable when it comes to ethics. Trump beating Hillary would surprise me a little, but it doesn't matter as they are both progessive leftists. Either win will be 4 years or more progressive bullshit, the only difference being whose annoying voice we hear all the time.

You're probably right, but Hilary should be hanging by a rope.

                        Agreed...

For 8 years all I heard from fellow conservatives was how all we needed was a constitutional conservative and we would rally after the crapfest of Obama. We actually had more than one candidate who could start us on the road toward a limited federal government.

                        We chose the clown show.

Cruz doesn't need to win the race anyways. When the convention comes, he will be nominated.

Doubtful. The republican status quo fucking hates him. If they nominated someone besides Trump it would be someone like Bush, Romney, or Christie.
