I would think low interest rates and 6 or 7 year car loans has more to do with his than inspections working correctly. People buy new or newer cars way more often now than tbey used to evem though they can't really afford them. Cars are costing $40,000 or more these days for suvs, trucks, and sports cars that people in the hood need to show off. How often do you see homes in low income areas where they have one or two or three cars sitting out front that are each worth more than the house? They aren't getting rid of the old cars because of failing inspections. They are getting rid of them for more bling to show off the money they don't really have.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Texas is ripping people off with its new two step one sticker as well.

Inspections back in the old system were 39.75 I believe. I think $14.50 of that was the sticker fee. If you just got a safety only inspection (For Diesel vehicles), you just paid the sticker fee.

How inspections are I think $25 bucks. Texas has taken that $15 sticker fee and added it onto the Registration. So basically while you're car now just has one sticker, you're still paying for two.

I was at the tax office at Southlake and I heard a girl at the counter say the reason that fee is there is because of that sticker fee. Kinda bullshit if you ask me.

without it imagine the amount of crap vehicles the illegals would be driving
It probably does little to nothing in regards to assurance that people have insurance. All they do is get a policy for a day, print card, cancel, happens all the time. As for people driving craps cars, I constantly see pieces of shit on the road that are billowing smoke or look like the wheels may come off at any moment and inspection hasn't seemed to stop that.

They're fucking us dealers over even worse. If the inspection is more than 6 months old, we have to reinspect it before we can sell.

They wanted to sniff it, but all the dynos were broke except in Dallas. I finally went to a place that could add and wasted another hour while they "inspected" it. If you're really going to inspect it, check peoples brakes or something like that...

I have to get my truck done this month...yay.

Anyways, thanks for the post, hope they do drop them.
Brakes (pedal/effectiveness, not the actual hardware), turn signals, and lights are all part of the safety inspection.

Especially since they changed the rules to require inspection before registration.

How does it help any more than registration?

You were never just paying $14.50 for a sticker.

having no data either way is having no data. Its the basis of the scientific method and the way to judge if something is working properly.

So in this case does the needs of the individual outweigh the needs of the many? How will allowing vehicles with no inspections affect a metropolis of 6.5 mil people? Will having uninspected vehicles on the roads create greater hazards for drivers and what that do to commute times on the already overcrowded roadways? Will no inspections lead to 10/20/30% more breakdowns and accidents? If so what will that do to commute times? Will it affect fatality rates? How will it affect police response times? Do all those rates go up in lower income areas?

Without having the data all that can be done is to rely on casual localized observation. Which is the same as what the democrats do when it comes to guns
