But its only because some of the tenants of their religion, (that they cling to dare I say... religiously?) are honor killings, stoning women to death, killing gays, saying I shouldn't own a dog, and on and on and on. There are about 1.6 billion muslims in the world according to several links I pulled up on google (give or take a few million). Islam is the second largest religion behind christianity. If most muslims were extremists or islamists or terrorists, we would have a much bigger problem than we currently do. America would see daily attacks like Israel sees. Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, and ISIS would be much larger and have a much stronger backing. I am not denying there is a problem with extremism in islam. I think a travel ban from known terrorist supporting countries is a good thing. I just disagree that most muslims have been radicalized.

As for the decline in a country because it has muslims, we can talk about most of Africa, most of South America (predominately christian), parts of Europe (historically christian), and parts of Asia (mix of christianity and islam). The issue to me seems more closely tied to government, specificially socialism and communism, and corruption. South America has a majority christian population, yet almost all the governments are left leaning and the continent is very corrupt, and economies are largely shit. Same for a lot of Asia that is doing poorly. But even still there are multiple factors and you can't blame just one thing. My point is there are a lot of examples of majority christian countries who are third or second world rated with lot of poverty and crime.

I think the problem here is that most muslims are indifferent. They don't really care that the terrorists exist and are doing this.

Look at it like the police. Most of them are decent people, just trying to earn a living, but there are definitely some bad apples in the bunch. If the good ones would come down HARD and make an example out of the ones abusing power, that situation would resolve itself. Instead they hide behind loyalty and turn a blind eye.

Same thing with islam. If the regular muslims came down hard on the bad apples, before they got numbers, this situation would resolve itself.
