          Jet fuel will not melt steel in an atmospheric fire. What it will do is cause the metal to expand enough to shear enough of the rivets for the joint to fail. I've seen that type of structural failure in bridges that were damaged by fuel trucks.

          I just didn't understand how that statement correlated with the picture posted.

              i get it. the article I linked basically says the jet fuel was just the catalyst for the larger fire that weakened the structures to the point of failure
