I dont think it has anything to do with liberal or conversative, but authoritarian or libertarian.

Yeah there are 2 ways to view the political spectrum: liberal to conservative, left to right; and complete totalitarian/authoritarian on one extreme end, then liberal/conservative on the same end but less extreme, libertarian on the other end but not the extreme, and total anarchy on the extreme end. Both liberal and conservative platforms want to retain control over the individual's personal life the way they see fit (gun control, sugar tax, same sex marriage, drug use, etc.)
