Previous process, and current for those already IN the U.S. : Catch an illegal crossing the border. Take them to a detention facility. They get a court date and are released into the US as long as they pinky swore they'd show up to court. They hardly ever do and now are in the wind.
Current process: They are detained. Their kids are detained. Hundreds of facilities have to be operating to house and care for them. Extra judges are placed in the south to adjudicate the cases. Court costs and enfrorcement costs skyrocket for something that is patently obvious, otherwise they wouldn't be detained. Then they are, maybe sent back.
All at taxpayer expense.
Proposed solution: Turn them around immediately and send them back. Any assylum seekers can go through the correct process of petitioning at our Embassy or consulates. Any that want to immigrate can do the same.
No 80% rape rate for women and children when crossing illegally. No having to be sent back.
See how easy that is?
Which one sounds like the better option?
Why doesn't our government see it that way?
