I bet that a significant portion of people with GEDs if they are in a skilled trade make more money then many people with 4 year degrees.

Yep...i want education reform but not in the everyone gets a degree form.

We need to encourage these skilled trades. Stop making kids fell like they need a 4 year when they can make more as a welder, plumber or machinist.

Also...screw 2 years of foreign language and a stupid literature classes. If a kid knows hes not cut out for college let him join the trades at 17.

Once you become a master electrician you can make a lot of money...but also keep in mind that 90% of master electricians who go that route..make a lot of money because they only have a small handful of apprentices/helpers and even less journeymen working for them..that way they get around offering any benefits to their employees..and most apprentices make shit pay. I've worked for 3 electrical companies in the past..and got tired of being worked to death in terrible conditions with little concern for my safety and for shit pay. I'll stick to doing side jobs on the weekends and evenings for extra money and keep my regular job with benefits.
