Great Iran now has two of our boats, that was probably the deal. Well that and releasing all Irans we are holding.
They released the sailors and the boats.

But instead of being thankful that they are released lets be upset that Obama didn't mention it, in a speech that was pre-written, 6 hours after it happened.
It was closer to 18 hours, and they weren't in international waters "technically". They were in the waters of Farsi Island, which is Iranian.
And at least some mention by POTUS would have been nice, but he's shown thinly-veiled contempt for the military so many times, that I've lost count.

Glad they were released but how about that uniformity? Supposed to wear green socks in NWUs.

The USS Anzio is a Ticonderoga class which is the type of ship that shot down Iran Air Flight 655. Also something of note is that the ship's captain at the time was William C Rogers III from Fort Worth originally. He was reassigned afterward and his wife's minivan was blown up with a pipe bomb.

The case hasn't ever been solved but could have been terrorism related.

Those aren't NWUs. These guys are SWCC, and being part of SOCOM, wear pretty much whatever they want (within reason).

In 2007, 15 British marines in dinghies were arrested by the Revolutionary Guards Navy, which accused them of entering Iranian waters. The sailors were held for 13 days before the government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, then the president, set them free during a televised farewell ceremony in which they were given new suits and carpets as parting gifts.

A year later, the British Navy released a report saying that its vessels had been in an area with disputed borders between Iran and Iraq.

A prominent Iranian analyst with ties to the senior leadership said that the prompt resolution of the current incident was a reflection of how much Iran’s relations with the West had evolved since the signing of the nuclear accord this year.

I always forget about those guys!

On a positive note it appears the Revolutionary Guard guys do actually follow orders from the Iranian government sometimes.

Do you actually believe the shit you copy/paste? Serious question here. If so, my mind is blown. Iran is still developing nukes; they took a shot across the bow of one of our naval ships; they captured these sailors and held them overnight. Do you seriously believe they released them because of the nuclear deal?

I think this time they realized that not even the vagina in charge could sit by and let them hold our troops, not since the story went GLOBAL right away. If those sailors hadn't been set free today, everyone would have been screaming for them to go get our servicemen and woman. That's why they were set free. Iran is effectively poking the bear with a sharp stick seeing what they can get away with. The problem on our side is that the bear they're poking is merely a playful cub at best.

And posed NO THREAT. Give them some fuel and send them on their way. Post people there to watch over them until their help arrives or any similar action. Don't grab them and demand an apology. I'll put it in terms you'll understand. Obama and the US are getting trolled by Iran.

I'm waiting to form total judgment until we hear the full details of what happened, but I doubt we will for many years to come. With everything else Iran has done recently, this could have been handled with a bit more goodwill. At a glance, it doesn't appear the sailors were on any type of operation that posed a threat or could have been deemed hostile at all.

Reads exactly like what your hero Gore would have done in that same situation- Talk a bunch of nonsense and then duck/dodge/weave.
