A civilian who allegedly posed as a soldier to live in the barracks on Fort Bragg has been released from custody, according to a post spokeswoman.
"No charges have been filed at this time pending an investigation," Christina Douglas, Fort Bragg's chief of media relations, said Friday afternoon.
The man, whose identity has not been confirmed by officials, had been detained by Fort Bragg law enforcement on Wednesday after being discovered in barracks used by the 3rd Special Forces Group.
Douglas said Fort Bragg law enforcement was looking into the incident.
Officials have not discussed details around the case, such as potential motive or what, if any, crimes may have been committed.
The popular Facebook account U.S. Army W.T.F. Moments has reported the man may have been living on Fort Bragg for up to eight months.
The page reported the soldier had a fake identification card that he used to access post.
Fort Bragg authorities would not comment on the details posted on the page.
