TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — Five Syrian nationals who were trying to reach the United States using stolen Greek passports were detained in Honduras Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The Syrians had no apparent link to the attackers in Paris, Tegucigalpa police told Reuters.
According to the report, the Syrian men were on arrival from Costa Rica and planned to head to the border with neighboring Guatemala. Fox News reported that the men were trying to reach the United State by land, presumably by traveling through Mexico.
The passports had been doctored to replace the photographs with those of the Syrians, Tegucigalpa police said.
