We had a dog call one evening. My Sgt. went out on it and it did not require any police intervention. By the time it hit the chief, and social media was all up in arms, the story had changed six times. First story was a dog at a gas station that looked underfed and it was cold out. Sgt gets there, knows the dog that cruises about 100 feet to the gas station and gets fed all the time, and it has went home. By the time the story is relayed, from the ladies cousins, brothers, friend of the friend, he had left a starving dog and her six puppies out for the night in the snow. Lots of people chiming in that had no idea of the correct address for the first complaint and were fingering the wrong house and puppies. Gets to the chief fairly fast, he sends out the night shift Sgt, and he figures it all out. Dog was fine and in the house. Puppies lived a house or two over, and were in a heated dog house with much blankets, shelter, food, water, etc. Got to the point people were talking about going by and stealing the puppies, assaulting the homeowners, firing the police, etc etc. Chief handled it very well as he was a dog handler for years and every one was all happy. Just funny how they went down the path of all cops and the PD was sorry etc etc. My mother in law got wind, called me, was like niceeeeee, and then I kept texting my Sgt with updates telling him he was so screwed and jacking with him. Crazy how people get bad intell and just run with it.Whos your Daddy?

Facebook can be educational for various topics you want to learn about...etc. I find myself joining a bunch of groups and leaving 90% of them. However, I've learned quite a bit as well.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

kingjason, that's a good story for lots of reasons. Now take that story and apply it to say a police shooting in Ferguson or Baltimore.... It's a good lesson, but unfortunately the average social media user is incapable of comprehending the lesson.
I will stay off social media. Internet forums can be bad enough but I'd rank facebook, twitter and instagram about 100 times worse.
Social media is just another stepping stone to the movie "Idiocracy" becoming more of a documentary and less of a comedy.
