If criminals want guns, they are going to have/get guns. I'm not sure i see the point in it being illegal anymore. Just makes it more of a pain in the ass for us law abiding citizens.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Meanwhile, we get to fill out paperwork for one if buying new. I think it should be as simple as buying a candy bar. Pick it out, pay for it and done. No paperwork unless the seller wants it.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Evidently they think you're fine to release into the public so you should be fine to have every one of your God given rights restored. It's not like making it illegal for felons to own firearms actually stops felons from owning firearms.Originally posted by Denny View PostOnce convicted of a felony, you give up some of your rights... and justifiably so.

Make all guns illegal just as we have outlawed drugs. There's no drugs on the street.
The inherent nature of a criminal is to not abide by the law. I don't believe our unalienable right to bear arms should be infringed upon whatsoever. Any gun law in existence or future law would only be respected by those who abide by the law of the land anyway. We have the right and duty to protect and defends ourselves as individuals and as a community from all enemies, whether it be a threat from other individuals or a tyrannical government. Whether you are a convicted felon or Mother Theresa, you have that right.
I respect both sides of the argument in this thread but, if we can't trust someone to exercise their God given rights with responsibility then why are we releasing them from prison to begin with.
Last night, a man convicted of terrorism charges in 2010 and was no doubt on every watch list in the country was able to acquire an AK 47 and ammunition and then attempted to murder dozens of people. The laws that prohibited him from possessing a firearm have done quite the opposite.

It's a grey area though. I don't want some thug who gets a 2 year sentence because he testified against his drug dealer buddy to get out and have full rights when he didn't serve his time for his real crime. Make sense?

Reality seems to be a different matter though and the only ones that have the hassle are the law abiding folks.
It's illegal to do a lot of things and those are separate debates to me - but this is a right that we're talking about. Being a cheerleader coach is not a right.
Hell - my thought for this thread/purpose is different really though. Although, I want to agree that felons should have a reset on their rights. All I'm trying to say in this thread - is *I* and other relatively decent citizens should not have to deal with paperwork, background checks and all those sorts of things.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Among many things, we should not have to "buy" our rights back in the form of a CHL permit.
