Giving the government more money is like giving a monkey more bullets for his machine gun.

So what's the problem? That sounds like a wicked good time.

I brought in 2 yards of rock to fix potholes that were annoying me. Know what I didn't do? Bitch that everyone needs to pay more because I'm too lazy to fix the fucking road I drive on.
So by your logic, you're ok with paying someone to do it, and then doing it yourself also?

Looks like the roads here. Asphalt is cheap and fast to fix, then winter hits and it expands it and breaks it the fuck up. Repeat. Did you guys have a bad winter this year?
BTW, Taxes pay for these ridiculous city worker payroll & pensions. lol if you think the majority goes to actual tax payer benefits.

i'd just like to point out that government of all levels will take a donation if the OP is so convinced that more money solves things. Of course I have a feeling that he wants other people to pay for his road.

Relying on politicians, of any brand, to fix things is a a fool's play.

Nope, not an uber lib. Actually am fighting tooth and nail against some rather extremist tea party types on this issue that like to use other peoples tax money to fix their roads and such, then want to oppose said taxes for being too high as soon as their roads are fixed.

Will post more later tonight when I'm free. Have company today to take care of.

You aren't liberal but you are fighting against the conservative tea party?
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

I don't have an issue with the tea party in general, but my small city is full of some of the more extreme ones that make city hall their pet project and attempt to shout down or out people that get in their way. Again, these same people don't have an issue with using my taxes to pay for the upkeep of their roads, but my long neglected one warrants bussing in others to shout and scream about taxes and such. I'm a moderate.... And I really don't like libs, but this ordeal has really tested my limits with the other side

Its not like I as a private citizen can get a contractor to come out and pave a neglected public road without the jurisdiction stopping me.

So what's the answer when you can't do the city governments job, but they won't do it either?

Otherwise, I agree with you. Not trying to argue with you.

No, I want the other people whose roads I have been paying for with my taxes to date to get off their high horse and pay their right share to fix my road

The street in front of my house (Sachse) is old asphalt and looking real bad, mostly because of the trash trucks. However I hope it stays that way because if they were to fix it, the city would probably come through and re-assess our properties making our taxes go even higher. F that, and the worse it gets the less speeding, shortcuting assholes will use it.
