Keep twisting your panties up because more money will be spent keeping him alive through the appeal process and wait time on Death Row(fingers crossed).

EDIT: It's always interesting to see you wing-nut fucks scream about due process when it's theoretical, but when the feces becometh reality, you always want a good old fashioned lynching.
I believe that he should be released into general population and not treated differently than any other individual in there.

Because building a case takes time. You have to obtain not only the confession as to what he claims he did, but also the evidence to back it up. As he didn't plea out (if one was offered), the prosecution actually has to make the case to jurors. Evidence has to be gathered, witnesses and security cameras looked at and then you go through the process of not only calling hundreds of potential jurors, but also weeding them out and trying to find as impartial of a jury as possible without changing venue.

While prosecution makes it's case, the defense also has to have time to talk to witnesses and attempt to build a case, which takes considerable time even if he was assisting fully. Look at Hasan. That is a military, sped up trial. He was caught, red handed, opening fire on soldiers on a military installation and was wounded during the event. Everything possible pointed to him and he admitted to it. It still took 3 years plus to actually convict. Two years is pretty damned fast.

Because we don't want a repeat of this.

this situation I believe due process is a waste of time. Should've just set him on fire two years ago.

Right, and would you feel the same if it was you in that chair with the government using your expedited trial idea?

the only good thing about the lengthy time frame is that it allowed the prosecution to be thorough and investigate any elements that were beyond the investigation of this douche bag.

If I was guilty as fuck: yes

Due process should take hours in certain instances, not years. I'm all for it unless it's just a circus, billed to the taxpayers. The Hassan trial is a perfect example.

By that logic, anyone that ever commits a crime forfeits their rights to due process. Stop letting the drama of shit that has nothing to do with you beyond being a citizen of the country that was wronged influence how you feel about how you are governed.

I, too, think our court system could stand to move faster, and maintain the same, if not greater, level of responsibility and accuracy. There is no logical reason it should take 2 years to only find someone guilty. 2 years should have been plenty enough time for both the trial, and already the execution.

I'm not saying turn this into a process that only takes a week, but 2 fucking years for something so cut and dry. . . . waste of money and resources, and draws out the pain of the victims.

Lets not even begin to start counting all the tax payer dollars he's about to consume just to house and feed the fucker.
