It takes roughly 4 hours to set up a wedding, and about an hour for the ceremony, couldn't the course be used for POTUS to golf in the morning and the wedding in the afternoon?
I do tend to agree that the wedding is a once in a lifetime type event, the POTUS can golf anytime he wants (as evidenced by the link).

The White House optics problem started when the story spread thattwo military lovebirds, Army Captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr., were forced to move their dream wedding off a beautiful Hawaiian golf course after the president decided he wanted to play through.
The pen and phone president had to get on the phone.
“Listen, congratulations on your wedding,” Obama said in the call. “I feel terrible. Nobody told us and had they mentioned they were going to have a wedding on the 16th hole we would have skipped the 16th hole, I hope the wedding went OK anyway,” he added.
“It did. Thank you very much. It was a blessing in disguise,” the groom, Edward Mallue Jr., responded.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

I dislike the man as much as anyone, but I would put money on him not knowing anything about this until it hit the news. He is the president, his staff takes care of these things for him.
The commander in chief, the man that runs the most powerful military in the world needs to change his plans and redirect his 300+ person security detail somewhere else because two junior officers that have been warned they might get the boot but booked anyway want to use the course for a wedding.
This story is silly. If you don't want your plans altered don't book a wedding when the president is in town. Especially not at a military base on his favorite golf course during a time where he typically plays a round. There are 5 other great courses on Oahu and lord knows there are hundreds of just as nice venues on the island.
I hope the couple has a great honeymoon and I wouldn't be surprised if Obama invites them to dinner and maybe even sent a gift. He has a pretty wide open schedule when he's on vacation.

I can't stand Obama, and feel for them that this happened. However, NOTHING in your personal life is untouchable when you're military. It's just part of the gig and if another POTUS pulled this I'd probably feel the same way so I'm giving Obama a pass on this one.
I get irritated when he meddles in city/state business - no way I'd expect him to know some wedding was happening between two captains. I'd be more irritated if it were two E-5s, but in the end it happens.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.
