I have an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) through my employer. It's immediately funded at the start of each fiscal open enrollment, and based on what I elect to contribute each pay period (up to a federal limit of $2500). They give me a Visa card that I then pay all of my medical, dental, vision, and pharmaceutical costs with. You have to submit receipts and it has to be a qualifying expense, so don't use it to by TVs. If you use all of the $2500 before the next enrollment, you can submit your receipts for cash pay expenses and be reimbursed.

I've done this for years with a big family and it has worked.

One tactic that the Obama Administration did prior to the ACA going live was to reduce the amount that you could contribute to an FSA from $5200 to $2500. I truly believe that they did this because they see what I (and many more Americans) are doing as threat to their system. I say fuck 'em.....I'll make $2500 work.

The architects of Obamacare built a house of cards that is now vulnerable to strong headwinds. Those headwinds are now coming with all of the delayed legislation that is about to hit like the IRS penalties. Recent footage now appearing of government officials mocking the voters for being stupid is not going to set well with America either. We have been sold a pile of steaming shit, and some people are just now starting to figure that out.

Considering the punitive measures, higher costs, poor to no coverage, and the recent change of control of congress - do I hear a death knell tolling? I think so.

If so, the question now becomes - what is the alternative?

Regular price for a 30 day supply is $125. The first time we used the discount it came to $40. We thought "well, that's better"......until we found out that was for a 90 supply.

The hospital closest to me will forgive 80% of their bill, immediately.....without asking....if I agree to pay the other 20%.

The doctors, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals....they love cash pay. No paperwork, no HMO/PPOs, no hassle.
It is called "fee for service" Filing insurance is so costly and time consuming that they come out ahead with this lesser fee up front.

True. I think that they've gotten more than their share of medical services.

Those government officials are simply stating the truth. Voters who were in favor of Obamacare were indeed stupid and should be mocked.

I think it needs to be said that the large majority of American voters in general are indeed stupid and should be mocked. Not just those that supported Obamacare.

                            Might try it again

I tried it once several years ago and the doc just looked dumbfounded and eventually said he had no idea, that hes just a doc and doesn't deal with billing matters

It's okay, he's going to give 6 million or so illegals amnesty by the end of the week. That'll distract us enough to forget about Ferguson for a while. I'm really surprised he's not trying to get Loretta Lynch confirmed though. My guess is that maybe he's waiting to see how Ferguson turns out in case he needs to use Holder as a scapegoat. Then he can try to bargain with the next congress over the Keystone pipeline.

The whole idea is to get a single payer plan set up. If all companies that sell insurance go out of business, and all employers stop paying for your healthcare, then all of that "Benefit" money will be TAXED. That is the whole idea. If you earn $50,000 a year, and your employer provides you a health care plan that costs $10,000 a year, there is NO tax paid on that $10,000. The employer uses it as a deduction from his profit, and you don't pay tax on it. Think about that for a minute and run those numbers. If the feds can tax all that money and then provide low quality health care along with the death panels, they will have a lot of cash to buy votes. Like Merle Haggard said , "We will all be drinking free bubble-up and eating that rainbow stew".
