  • Chicagoland voting machine casts candidate’s vote for his Dem opponent

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Admitting his confidence in Cook County ballot integrity is shaken, State Representative Candidate Jim Moynihan (R-56), was shocked today when he tried to cast a vote for himself and the voting machine cast it for his opponent instead.

voteballotbox“While early voting at the Schaumburg Public Library today, I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” said Moynihan. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”

While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race. It is unknown if the machine in question (#008958) has been removed from service or is still in operation.

“Clearly, I am concerned that citizens will be unable to vote for the candidate of their choice, especially if they are in a hurry and do not double check their ballot,” added Moynihan. “I cannot say whether or not this was intentional, but Cook County voters deserve better and should not have their right to vote suppressed.”

The 56th District covers portions of Schaumburg, Bartlett, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and Roselle.

funny how those errors only go in one direction.

No kidding. I distinctly remember this happening before.

They only check IDs at the polling places, absentee voting still works for dead people. Someone has to actually fill out paperwork though so it'll cut back on fraud considerably.

You used to be able to walk into a polling place and point at a name on a registration log and vote. So if you have 5 people living in your home you could come back 4 more times and vote for all of them. Or if you knew your neighbors and friends weren't voting you could take theirs. Heck even if they were planning to vote there wasn't anything to stop you from claiming to be them.

They are saying today that "This was a calibration error of the touch-screen on the machine"
You can bet your ass that if this was reversed and had cast votes for Republicans that Eric Holder would be unleashing the full fury of the FBI and the Justice Department raiding Republican offices/Headquarters Nationwide.

There is no voter fraud and besides, if there was, it would be such a small percentage as to not effect outcome. Plus, having to prove who you are to place a vote is just racist.

Holder wants to be the first black supreme court justice, he won't go full retard as long as he has a chance. Thurgood Marshall doesn't count because he was before Oprah and Clarence Thomas is a republican so he's not black.

Maybe those dumb guys over there who have to did a thumb in dark ink have it figured out. Kinda hard to vote a dead man with a system like that. But, we would need some bright yellow ink to use in certain areas.

Why would we need yellow ink?
