As Kurdish forces continue to fight back against ISIS in any way they can, reports have come forward of an increasing number of women being sent into battle. One such woman, a Kurdish commander, has killed an unknown amount of ISIS militants before eventually taking her own life in a suicide blast via grenade to avoid capture, taking the lives of a few more in her final act.
ISIS militants have expressed their dissatisfaction with Kurdish forces employing the use of women during battle, because according to their belief, if they’re killed by a woman, they’ll spend eternity “virgin-less.”

So when the Kurdish commander of the People’s Protection Units, later identified as Arin Mirkin, busted into an ISIS bastion east of the border town of Kobane and began taking out militants by the handful, they were a little frightened. According to Rudaw.net, “She clashed with enemy fighters, fired grenades and then detonated herself with a grenade.”

Although at this point it is unclear exactly why Ms. Mirkin did what she did, but some have speculated, “She blew herself up to avoid being a prisoner of ISIS.”
By taking out as many as she could before dying at the hands of her enemy, Mirkin’s brave act is surely nothing short of heroism. Let us know what you think of the entire ordeal in the comments below.
