In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem... if no one else can help... and if you can find them... maybe you can hire... The A-Team.

    god bless.

In fairness - my initial reaction was "FU!" as well. Although, with the elaboration on the topic I'm in full agreement.

      Fucking politicians.

It's not apples and oranges when you're the one that brought up conventional vs. non-conventional warfare.

I know it's bullshit to even mention it, but I'm just stating the best current solution, given the topic at hand. I wish I could say that using the military would be better, but that wouldn't be true.

I'll say this about a government military. a month before we deployed to Iraq, we were still doing woodline training and got there with dark green camo OTV's. A private company wouldn't do that shit. Our HWMV's were also soft skin though the AF guys had up armor, tinted windows and AC

I hear ya, let me clarify---- I think our armed forces commanded by our elected officials should fight in any manor that will fit the conflict. Not a private army with little or no accountability to the taxpayers that ultimately fund said private army.
Conventional or unconventional. Match brutality with extreme brutality. If that fails, elect the leaders that will accomplish this. It is the same old song with different singers. I thought we had learned from a "political correct conflict" battle, IE: Vietnam.

I agree with Frost, that if we decide to "fight" the gloves come off and lay waste to whomever/wherever, period.

Problem with that, to me, is while waiting to have those politicians elected our boys are dying because of shitty ROEs that require them to be politically correct when dealing with an enemy.

And also as Frost touched on earlier this will never happen in this day and age, due to the fact of the cry baby hippies that expect us to turn the other cheek. Including the officials that care more about their cush office and reelections, than the well being of this nation.

Sidenote: I'll never get used to anyone calling me a 'decorated' anything and duck that almost as much as I do when someone tries to say 'hero.' Nope, no thank you. I'm just a schmuck that didn't duck

This is because the military isn't utilized for its initial purpose- to defend the Constitution, our people and our borders. It is now used to defend our INTERESTS, impose agendas in foreign lands and fuel the economy through the military industrial conflict. It is no wonder that they are so overextended as they have been in recent past. There is no room for them to conduct the duties they were designed for.

And there's no stomach for us to be used in that role. Could you imagine the uproar if we were deployed around the US to secure all of our borders and started shooting those trying to invade?

One of my buds took a contract early on with Blackwater. His stories about desertion of mercs when the shit hit the fan and the lack of back up/fire support when needed made it a very precarious endeavor. Men in the military fight to the death for their country and for the men next to them...when they fight for money, the will to die is no longer there and each man has his desertion threshold.

Early on contracts, dudes were making serious fuck you money. Even Cochise was paying north of a grand a day. But you were guaranteed contact on a routine basis and zero military support or oversight.

Making a thousand a day makes it easier to say fuck this (exact moment in time) and most of the time after a short break out of theater they came back with another company/contract.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

They were hiring some shit back in the early stages when they tried to keep up with manpower demands. They got overwhelmed quick. Some outfits that had their shit together, hired quality people, did OK.

It has been that way as long as I can remember, and I am a hell of a lot older that you.

And those dudes could still rely on a legitimate US military presence in the area. There's no way to send them in any volume, and not send the rest of the military.
