Doh!
Texas Gov. Rick Perry was indicted last week on felony charges accusing the governor of abuse of power. Perry entered into a plea of not guilty, but for his troubles, now has lost his conceal and carry permit.
After an ethics investigation proved there was enough evidence to indict the governor, Rick Perry was on the hot seat. Travis County District Attorney, Democrat Rosemary Lehmberg, was arrested last year after a DWI charge. After serving 45 days in jail and going through mandatory counseling, Perry pushed for Lehmberg to resign. After Lehmberg refused, Perry vetoed $7.5 million in funding for the state's public integrity unit that is run by the district attorney's office. The cuts to the office resulted in the loss of jobs for many within the unit.
Local ABC news affiliate, KTXS in Texas reports on Saturday that Rick Perry, an outspoken gun rights activist, will no longer have as many rights under the Second Amendment he cherishes dearly. Under Texas state law, Perry will have his concealed and carry license suspended because of the indictment, and won't be able to reapply for two years. According to federal law 18 USC 922, Perry will also not be allowed to purchase any new firearms, but will still be able to retain the guns he currently owns. Perry will also be able to carry a gun as long as its in his own home.
Gov. Rick Perry decided to enter a plea of not guilty on the first degree felony of abuse of official capacity, and the third degree felony of coercion of a public official. If Perry is found guilty, the governor could face a maximum sentence of up to 109 years in prisons.http://www.examiner.com/article/gov-rick-perry-loses-his-concealed-carry-permit-following-indictmentAt Examiner.com™ we help you excel personal finance, boost income, invest wisely, travel smart, reach financial freedom faster, and enjoy life on a budget.
When I normally thought of Class A or B, I always thought of a violent crime where the suspension made some sense to me. But for non-violent, non-gun related crime like this Perry nonsense? Suspending because of that...that's a bit of a stretch. I thought we were innocent until PROVEN guilty.
[edit]There seems on "out", though, in 411.187(b), where the officer has to write an affidavit justifying the need for suspension and send it in, then that notification has to get to the license holder.Last edited by GhostTX; 08-29-2014, 01:06 PM."Self-government won't work without self-discipline." - Paul Harvey

Doesn't matter if a judge dismisses the case, because the damage is already done.
I was arrested and was later found not guilty on a DUI charge. (What can I say, I learned it by watching RyanB... I digress)
the judge revoked my probation because I was arrested... not convicted... arrested. so I now have a possession charge on my record, but I got to spend 30 days with Dallas county's most hardened working criminals (I was on work release at Decker Day Care)

This is a bunch of bullshit.
There are cases everyday that are thrown out due to people making false statements.
Most recently I saw a single mother setup by her baby daddy. 8 yr old kid showed up with red hands, wrist down red as hell, after she dropped him off with the baby daddy. The kid told the detective that his mother held his hands in hot water to punish him. Mother was arrested and charged with felony child abuse.
Fast forward to trial, kid fesses up that he lied, the dad put him up to it, and the redness was actually the result of a allergy to a new pair of bating gloves.
Case was thrown out, but the mother was out her teaching job and at least $25k in lawyer fees. Arrest on her record ends her teaching career even though it was all a setup. No recourse available for the dad's slander since the child lied.
The bottom line is, don't get caught in the justice system, innocent or not it will fuck up your life.

I don't think it was ever proved one way or the other, but I thought it was bullshit the instant I heard about it. I also don't think the coyote was ever found, which would be odd. This article brings up a lot of the questionable attributes of the tale:
