When was it founded and by whom?
    What were its borders?
    What was its capital?
    What were its major cities?
What constituted the basis of its economy?
What was its form of government?
Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?
Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation?
What was the language of the country of Palestine ?
What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine ?
What was the name of its currency? Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese yuan on that date.
And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?
These same questions could be asked of any of the countries in the Middle East prior to 1947 and you would get the same answers.

That is practically a rounding error in the Federal budget; chump change.

I can answer most of them and it really falls back onto the Ottoman Turks. The long term control that they had really warped everything over there. Empires dieing is always a messy thing.

They were raised up on our backs and not on their own merits. The same could be said about Israel if you felt the need to say it.
The US dollar? God dammit, if ignorance os bliss then you are fucking orgasmic. Islam is an ancient Abrahamic religion that was prevalent in the fertile crescent, Ottoman Empire, etc and many of the Muslim countries that you are referring to are in fact products of the European empires. T.E. Lawrence was not from Baltimore, and it isn't called Royal Yankee Shell.

I don't need a history lesson; I heard every nuance of this growing up from my Nazi grandfather and still hear it today from my communist college professor brother. Yes US dollars. Look at what the countries were 60 years ago vs what they look like today because of buying oil from them in only US dollars.

The real question is, do you believe that the UN has the authority to dictate what a countries boarders should be?

I believe that the UN can keep running their mouths to anyone who is willing to listen to them.

Way to avoid the question. Funny how people think jack shit of what the UN has to say and would never follow what they say until it has to do with Israel.

My question is..."Why is this news?" Jews and Muslims battling for the Holy Land? 1,500 plus years ago this was news. Now it's just normal. How much longer until another school shooting happens in this country before we don't give a flying fuck about Gaza? Kony 2012 was big because the media wanted it to be big. It lasted about 3 months. Sandy Hook lasted about 6 months before that shit cooled down. At some point, something a little closer to home is gonna hit before nobody gives a shit who "owns" Palestine.

Point being, nobody in America, probably the world, gives a fuck about anything but themselves. So why even act like any of this shit matters? "What's your opinion on so and so?" Doesn't fucking matter because all anybody, including me, is worried about is the next bill.

Who cares? All the knowledge and study of middle eastern history will never produce diplomacy that accomplishes peace in that region. NEVER. They should just battle it out until there is a clear victor.

I tend to side with the group that doesn't use suicide bombers and shoot rockets from hospitals, but that's just me. I couldn't care less if they wiped each other out. As long as it makes for an entertaining episode of Frontline, I'm all good!
