I work with several very religious individuals. One is a pastor and has his own church. We get along absolutely fantastic. My Sgt. is fairly religious also and we work as a fantastic team. I beat on them to no end and they bless me, pray for me, and even talk about me in their sermons. We get it! People are raised of different faiths, morals, and character, and the differences can be amusing. What these guys do see, every day, is that I beat up on guys that talk about cheating on their old ladies, I am a hard worker, and I will bend over backwards to help them with personal things if asked. I treat people with respect and I am a very personable guy so they see the bigger picture. We all share very similar qualities but have very different views on how this shits going to end. As a matter of fact I have known a few Athiests that just flat get on my nerves.

To me, what ever helps you get through the day is just fine by me, as long as your not out killing people that don't agree with you about your religion, or any other form of misc harassment. Also when it comes to tradition, money, the pledge of allegiance, I could care less also. I lot of that is just good ole tradition.
As to the not caring what religious people do, I disagree. You won't find a more vitriolic group outside of Islam. Mention anything having to do with religion and you're going to get an atheist screaming. Have to love that 'separation of church and state' bullshit as well.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

C'mon, man.Scientists do not coddle ideas. They crash test them. They run them into a brick wall at 60 miles per hour and then examine the pieces.
If the idea is sound, the pieces will be that of the wall.

The only way that the two statements contradict each other is if religions and religious people are the same thing.

I was attempting to point out the irony that these two statements were posted by the same person. Have a blessed day. When the government pays, the government controls.

C'mon, man.
What was antagonistic about that? What is the difference between a cult and a religion? The number of followers? As for being left alone, I'm talking about legislation, and the way every religion tries to MAKE everyone else live by their doctrines. Don't want an abortion? Don't get one. Don't want to buy beer before noon on a Sunday? Don't buy it.

Pretty much! Oh, and the word cult has sinister implications.
I'm a libertarian, so I agree. "Land of the free" means people should have the right to do anything that isn't a crime against a fellow citizen.
Generally speaking most religions seem pretty sinister to me. I'll tentatively exclude Buddists.. But they're the only ones I can think of off the top of my head that don't give me serious kneejerk concern. Hopefully in the next few generations we'll all figure out how to let each other live in peace and stop being such assholes all the time.
