Here is my question. Why doesn't Ukraine now do an all out assault near the plane to try and take it over so they can completely prove it before the scene is completely gone? ( I know there is enough proof as it stands, but before the whole plane disappears) I know they are pussies and can't really fight Russian backed militants, but now would be the time if ever.

Not a bad theory, but they could also sabotage it, and it might be politically advantageous to let Russia attempt a cover up and then expose it than it would be to confirm what we pretty much already know.

That is not MH17. It was another military transport aircraft downed earlier in the conflict.

Remember its an urban enviroment where the weapons are ak47 with hardly any armor that can move up the streets. Noone wants to go thru towns that rebels control.

Obama shoulda offered some support or equipment.

Do commercial airlines have the capability of I dunno, knowing a missle locked on to them? I'm not too knowledgeable on how STA missles work / nor commercial airliners. But were they just cruising along and then BAM all hell breaks loose, or do they have any type of warning system?

No, they only have forward looking radar. They would have been oblivious, leaning back with autopilot on when it detonated. Believe it or not, many large airline models do have a flare/chaff countermeasure option, but its expensive and no airline is going to order it. Heads of state and governments order them most of the time.

who cares what they prefer, this whole mess would most likely be over already without us instigating shit. why do you think the eastern ukraine people wanted to seperate from the rest of the country? America and the European union were cherry picking leadership over there.

No airliner that I have flown or known of has countermeasures. Maybe planes stated for diplomatic service do, nothing in the civilian world. The only radar we have is weather attenuating. We can map the ground in "ground" mode. I have mapped large ships on decent into O'hare on lake Michigan.
Our enhanced ground prox (egpws) is tied into our radar as well. This cross-references our GPS position with respect to altitude to avoid contact with high terrain (mountains etc..).

Nope, I promise you--- no civilian plane has countermeasures---"0". This applies to cargo as well. The only exception MIGHT be some Saudi aircraft that the royal family uses from time to time. I have had a few furloughed buddies that have flown on 2 year contracts for these guys hint at this. They hire you 2 years at a time, weird as shit.

They didn't want to seperate the elections proved as much. Only towns that the rebels controlled were not allowed to vote every other town in the east voted to stay together.

Its not about the leadership Russia wont ever let it go and europe can't survive without it.

Ukraine shoulda kept the nukes then it would have been good and left alone. Since it gave them up and signed a treaty saying the US/NATO would protect it if ever russia invaded its been screwed.
