It amazes me that Obama hasn't done anything. He is a bigger idiot than even I could have conceived. Now Iran is preparing to assist Iraq. Great dipshit, you just gave our greatest enemy a huge amount of influence over a country our guys spilled their blood for..

I hope y'all are ready for $4 and $5 gas. The speculators have all the excuses they need to make it happen.

Al Qaeda's on the run guys, remember.

It's a weird feeling knowing that the placed I called home for a year, Balad, is about to be overran.
If contract security work blows up again I'm going.

That's just sad..(The Iraqi military running part)... no wonder Al Qaeda are able to take over the cities.

I was north of there at Al Asad, but mad a few trips down there as well. It is a weird feeling indeed.

They are able to take over because we didn't crush them while we were there.

In what way? If we didn't, what opportunities did we miss to accomplish this? And I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely interested in the perspective of people who were there.

Simple. We could only kill the ones that came out to party and only if they were holding party favors. Now that we are not there, they are free to do as they please without repercussions.

That and mob mentality combined with a bunch of male cockroaches with no real future other than be a shit head terrorist. Population overgrowth.

Only thing the US DoS will sign off on now is static guard force and even then you are looking at supervisory roles overseeing host country national guard forces.....the same ones that just cut bait and ran. The days of hunting bad guys as a civilian in Iraq are long gone never to return...........as long as the US DoS has their say.

We shifted to the 'hears and mind' and 'COIN' approach instead of killing everyone we come across until the other side either runs out of people or gives up. Obama started 'arresting' people in Iraq with FBI agents and giving them Miranda rights.

                      I LOL at this headline.

"Iranian President Rouhani says country is ready to help Iraq if asked."

Yea, right. They want to move in and take over for themselves.

Then again, on second thought, they may do a better job than we did of getting rid of the scum in that country.

Let's be a little more clear first. We "shifted to the 'hearts and minds' and COIN" in the 60's if not before then. Not like it was after the 2003 invasion. We were not at war with Iraq after we scuttled their military and government. We were at war in Iraq, from then on. We were there to fight anyone that wanted to fight with us. There was not a side to fight only fighters who fight for various thugs. The guy that was a cool bread vender yesterday is now a insurgent today and the guy that was shooting rockets at the base last month is now selling DVDs right outside the gate.

Now being on the winning team (ISIS in this instance) is the thing to do....so they do it. As these bands of shitheads gain ground they will grow exponentially city by city.

Sorry KB, you're right and I thought it was understood. I was referring in the difference between winning wars (ex: WW2) to COIN and hearts and minds (Vietnam forward). I am of the scorched earth mindset.

We have to take note and learn lessons from the tactics that the ISIS has used to accomplish what they have so quickly. Those same tactics might be used in our country one day.

On another note, in many videos, I see them firing off round after round and wasting their ammo. where the hell do they get it? I can't even find one box for mine.

Were used here before. The North, when they came through, did this same thing. It strikes fear into the citizenry and makes them either surrender or join your side or watch their families die and their property destroyed or confiscated. This isn't new, not even in our lands.
