My wording was a bit strong, but now that they can do this what are they going to try to get away with next?

I thought the answer to this question was relatively clear.

Regardless: The SCOTUS and the government need to decide and stick with either the idea that a corporation is a person or if it's not.

Couldn't a company use this decision to opt out of the ACA entirely?

            You know. Those people.

As if corporations don't already have enough fucking power in this country. The "Go work somewhere else" argument only works until every employer out there is offering some sort of asinine bullshit excuse to not cover something. I hope Hobby Lobby tanks. I'll never buy anything there again. If you want to celebrate your religion go open a fucking church.

because employers should be forced to offer health insurance?

Past a certain amount of employees, yes they should. I'd be willing to offer a trade perhaps. End all business lobbying and campaign contributions in this country and make the rest of the playing field a little more fair, and maybe I'd change my opinion.

They aren't even saying they won't pay for health insurance or birth control. They said there are 4 of 20 birth control options they won't pay for. You want those? You go pay for it.

We dont share the same opinion then. The only reason employers started offering health ins plans was for it to be a benefit to help in hiring employees. The insurance co's put together a "group buy discount" so that they could sell it to companies.

So when looking for a job, one of the 'perks' was to get offered health coverage, and that may sway you to choosing that company, even if the pay wasnt equal. Now we expect it to be offered, and make laws to ensure that it happens.

                        • Let's be clear, the ACA was not a solution to a problem, it was another problem that exacerbated an already large problem. Insurance should be used in case of emergency, not regular maintenance.

Do you use your car insurance for maintaining your vehicle? Perhaps home owners insurance for regular upkeep on your house. Health is the only institution where we use insurance for maintenance duties, and the reason it has become as such is because 1) insurance is paying for it, leading to the idea that "It's not my money, so why do I care?" We need to tackle the cost and mindset issues, not who's going to pay for it.

Insurance has apparently become an entitlement.

READ THE OPINION, make your own determination. If you go to work for a closely held corporation that holds their religious tenants in high regard, then expect them to be able to operate as they see fit. Which is exactly how it should be. The government should have ZERO say in how a company operates.

The discussion will become how broad "closely held" will be defined.

I guess the SCOTUS wont be making Chick-fil-A be open on Sundays anytime soon...
