I realize that all losses are not the result of surrendering, but to surrender us to lose. It is by definition admitting defeat. Citing the Declaration of Independence is cute, but its effectiveness, and the effectiveness of the cessation of the confederacy hinged on a little principle called, "right of conquest." The rebelling colonists were able to keep an occupation at bay, and the confederacy was not.

Not cute, it's an inalienable right of association. According to our Founders, we could leave anytime we wish. Just like any other time you want to exercise your rights, you have to have enough force to ensure that you win if someone tries to prevent that exercise.

              Well this shit got derailed.

As to address the actual topic. Texas has a very peculiar significance in Russia. I have spoken w/ several russians personally, as well as read some russian political writings, and Texas is referenced from time to time as one of the United State's internal struggles. It would seem in Russia that Texas is viewed as a separatist state, and the secession movement carries what some would say is a disproportionate voice of representation for us. They seem to find it very interesting. You can find much of this spoken about by Russian professor Igor Panarin.
