Bill Nye wins. If you don't think so, don't procreate...if you already have, apologize to your children.

Ham is a fool. New Earth Creationism is his baby, and it is a misinformed doctrine. It almost comes off as satirical. I'll also say that he is in the vast minority of believers and what they align with.

He's even getting hammered by other Christians about it.
Controversial televangelist Pat Robertson chimed in on Tuesday s debate between creationist Ken Ham and evolutionist Bill Nye, The Science Guy by asking the Answers in Genesis founding president and ...

They asked this question at the end of the debate, and they could have had the entire thing last 5 minutes if they'd have done it in the beginning. This is a paraphrase of the answers:

Ham also tried this. A LOT. In fact, it was the cornerstone of his argument. However, he is trying to use the bible, something from the past, as justification for his beliefs.

I got sick of hearing "kinds," then hearing that he couldn't even define "kinds."

When you do something so stupid that Pat Robertson calls you out for making christians look stupid, you should get an award of some kind... Like a Darwin award...
Scientists do not coddle ideas. They crash test them. They run them into a brick wall at 60 miles per hour and then examine the pieces.

If the idea is sound, the pieces will be that of the wall.

It was a pretty terrible debate all said and done, very little actual debate. I was concerned with Nye going up there due to his limited knowledge on evolution, but Ham was embarassed. A recurring concern about creationism was highlighted by ham in that he actually believes his thought processes were rational and, of course, that nothing could change his mind.

I was kind of waiting for this to pop up on here. Of the numerous evolution arguments I've had on here, Answers in Genesis and the Creationism Museum are always leading counter arguments. I believe, and I could be wrong, that BrianC is a creationism backer. I also remember a nice back and forth with Wild Bill.

Also, these are from a photographer who asked 22 creationism believers to write notes/questions/etc to the other side. Some are pretty awesome:

I asked 22 self-identifying creationists at the Bill Nye/Ken Ham debate to write a message/question/note to the other side. Here's what they wrote.

A friend of mine posted a response on facebook to all of those.

Well, this is disheartening, although easy enough to answer...
                    1. Yes
                    2. No
                    3. Yes
                    4. No
                    5. Rotation of the earth as it orbits the sun.
                    6. It doesn't.
                    7. Not a legitimate science.
                    8. Don't have to.
                    9. Via natural processes.
                    10. Demonstrate this occured.
                    11. Because the latter has evidence to suppor the possiblity, the former does not.
                    12. Incorrect.
                    13. Yes.
                    14. You don't understand what the word theory means.
                    15. See #14.
                    16. Evolution.
                    17. Don't need one.
                    18. We have found many of "Lucy"'s species fossils. In fact, it took several of those fossils to complete "Lucy".
                    19. Yes.
                    20. Because the evidence doesn't support that.
                    21. You don't understand the big bang theory.
                    22. You don't understand evolution

                      Pretty much right.

There were a few responses on reddit answering them in great detail. I've, personally, come to the conclusion that the effort is mostly wasted unfortunately. Arguing the second law of thermodynamics is just tiresome when someone can't understand the concept of an open or closed system.

Cliffnotes since I haven't seen you post in awhile and you might have missed a couple of things: BrianC apologized for being crazy, and Wild Bill was convicted of possession of child pornography. Not joking about either. lol

I do kinda think it's funny though that this same debate with a lot of the same question/answers have occured on this forum and back in Canada years before. Which leads me to believe that this whole thing is pointless. Believe what you want to believe but don't get in the way of others for doing so. Unless they're Muslim Extremists. Fuck them with a couple of bullets to the chest.

Neither were good at debate or putting their somewhat complex thoughts into a coherent argument.

Ken Hamm actually had the best slam. Bill Nye was explaining that he would love to find out what happened before the Big Bang and other things that science can't explain, and said it would be great to find a book that explained this. Ken Hamm's response was to hold up the Bible and say it was "right here".
