Yes, I'm fine with that... I'm not in upper management and don't effing care. If I felt like I was underpaid I'd do what I've done numerous times in the past. Increase my value by adding new skills, market myself to the highest bidder and get a promotion or switch employers. In the last decade I've gone from a job making a $40k/yr salary to a job making almost 100k more than that in base salary alone in the same industry by continuing to learn and evolve. I've worked my ass off for it, and I know the people above me work hard for their checks as well and have to make tough decisions that will affect the lives of everyone below them.

I'm not worried about what the people higher up than me make in a year, nor do I look at the difference between the two and think it's not fair. Life's not fucking fair. If you're more concerned with why someone has something and you don't, you just found the problem, not the solution.

I remember making $7.50 an hour on an auto parts counter and seeing Managers buying expensive new trucks, and getting large bonuses, etc etc. So I worked my ass off and about 2 years after deciding I wanted my own store I got it, and the benefits that came with it. It isn't really complicated.

If its really that simple why is the average American salary around 40k.

Because the average American is a chump.

One of the problems i find with executive compensation is the complete backfire of the corporate transparency act that forced public companies to reveal how they were compensating top officers. In theory, this was supposed to provide illumination to investors and employees exactly how much of their money was going to leadership so there would be oversight.

In actuality, all it did was provide a measuring stick for top officers to measure their dicks against when they can review their competitions salaries, and demand more. I want to say since compensation has been revealed, salaries for CEOs and top officers have increased a hundredfold.

I must say i look at problems like executive compensation, tuition vastly outpacing normal job wage increases and it concerns me.

              I agree with this completely.

I am not jealous, since the wife and I do fine. I just find it ridiculous that in the last 5 years or so everything has went through the roof. Really a truck costs 60k? Electric bills are up, taxes up, gas up, health care going through the roof, insurance up, phone bills up, groceries up. I mean to a guy making an ass load of money it affects him zero. To the average middle class it affects us a lot. I truly enjoy what I do and helping people but I will never get rich on it nor do I expect to. It is just not hard to see the trickle down effect when all your execs are making stupid money. What's sad is that my bigger issue is not with company's like Wal-Mart but with the companies that were bailed out. I am sorry but I wanted the collapse to happen. Nothing says reset like companies going out of business. Instead we bail out these dumb mother fuckers and they are still living high on the hog. How many other companies would have failed and had to re organize if the collapse would have happened?

I didn't realize it was anyone's business what people made.

I can assure you that if a company could hire a talented person to do the job of these CEOs for much cheaper they would. In fact, if you guys think those jobs are so easy and you have what it takes, all you have to do is walk in and convince someone that you have the talent to pull it off.

Not happy with what you make? Find another job. Can't find a job? Start a business, go collect aluminum cans, take free shit off Craigslist and sell it on eBay, have a garage sale, etc. Most people have a bunch of shit they don't need, and spend more than they make buying a bunch of depreciating assets, and then wonder why they are broke.

Most of the people complaining about fair wages have never worked hard in their lives. They don't know what actual work is. If they did, they would know what advancement is and how to get there by working hard and taking on more responsibility. If pay were equal, where would the incentive be to work hard and work your way up the ladder? This equal bullshit is just that, we aren't equal and never will be. The key is opportunity, and there are plenty of them out there if you aren't lazy.

Anyone know a job opening that pays 6 figures and will allow me to post on here all day?

If you work hard and can dictate your income because of how valuable you are, why should you be penalized for the mouth breathers not having a drive or intelligence?

If you're properly skilled... actually... yes.

I mean just because he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth means nothing right? Soldier had all the same advantages growing up right? Just playing devils advocate.
