If we would simply stop funding the welfare state in this country we would be in the black by almost a trillion and a half dollars per year and we can afford all kinds of wars and super cool weapon systems with that money. Why would we have to spend the money if we stopped funding the "welfare state?" Couldn't we use that extra capital to save and pay down the debt? Just because you found a way to save $5 in one location doesn't mean you should spend it somewhere else.

You misrepresent my stance on war. I'm not saying we need to cower before other countries, nor should we put up with their shit. I am saying that there is no need to be in a perpetual state of war. Sure, prepare for war, not to would be foolish, but to always be fighting someone for no other reason than you disagreeing with them is foolish also, IMO. I think the way we handled ww2 was the right way to do it. Supply people and offer very limited support until we are directly attacked, then unleash the dogs of war. We shouldn't have to constantly be instigating fights. ESPECIALLY if they're going to be handled like Vietnam, the second Iraq war and Afghanistan were/are. I agree with frost on war in this one statement that when we fight we should go in, kick the shit out of them, and go home. War isn't the answer, but when it is, it's the only one.

Got to disagree with you on one point. We do not need to be killing civilians or completely destroying their infrastructure so that they end up dying. Not all citizens of country X agree with what their insane leaders do/don't do. NAZI Germany is a prime example; plenty of good Germans were helping Allies, helping the Jews, and even fighting against the German military. Yes, we need to kick the shit out of whoever we go to war with, but killing everyone is just geonocide and completely wrong.

Then they should remove the people who are in power that are putting them in harm's way. I said give them a chance to surrender, but none of this "They can shoot at me and when the weapon is empty they can lay it down and be considered a noncombatant." No, if you are pointing something in our direction or just shot at us, I don't care if you're a nun, you're going down.

Take out the government first and give the people a chance to surrender. Those that don't, remove them completely to the last.
