My junior high in utah was directly across the street from the DOD railyard.. the entire bottom of the school was a fallout shelter.
Shit, I was at an event in downtown Austin this past weekend and the basement was an old fallout shelter. The stairs leading down to it still had the old radiaton symbol signs and said "Fallout Shelter, capacity 150."
I wandered around down there for a few minutes while everyone else was busy... cool as hell, but creepy as shit when you think about what they might be used for.

Yeah, ours still had the sign on the front pillars of the school. I always felt like it was kind of a moot point, being basically ~1500' from ground zero, it's not like anyone would have much of a chance anyways.
