I'm not a Wal-mart fan myself, but they are a business like any other - their goal is to make money. If you don't like the way they go about it, don't shop there. I can't remember the last time I set foot in one. That being said, they are a powerful voice with their size and speaking up about Obamacare hurting sales. It's just beginning...

Hell, in some states they are allowed to not pay payroll taxes, and even defer their employees' income tax withholdings for decades. Can any small business operate that way? I like Wal Mart because they breed competition. Brookshires has had a stranglehold on Kaufman forever and because they are the closest grocery store, they could mark up their prices. Now that a wal mart is coming in, things will change.

They are a huge voice and I definitely want them in the fight against obamacare. I sell cars for a living and I have been HAMMERED this year. Last year, between October and November, I sold 10 cars, this year, I sold 2. Even for the off season, 2 cars is bullshit.

I've seen Walmart cut full time employees down to 16 hrs a week to keep them from filing unemployment, and this was long before obummercare.

While I dont condone it, It wasnt started out as a huge mega-business. Sam had an idea, knew he could make money hand over fist, and did it. The best part is, anyone can do that. They run that whole mess for profit, and it works.

Sam bought American, and toured his stores personally to make sure customers and employees were taken care of. Call me what you like, but the business Sam Walton built isn't the one that exists today.

Walmart tried to help head off this garbage with their $4 prescriptions years ago. They are predatory, they sell substandard products but they generally improve the communities in which they operate. People aren't forced to work for Walmart any more than they are forced to work in fast food or retail period. Get some education, join the military, learn to dig ditches, drive a truck or whatever. There are plenty of jobs that don't involve wearing a blue vest and making minimum wage.

While that may be true... don't work there, find another job. And don't tell me that there aren't other places to work (at least in a larger city) cause it's not like that's a special skill and you can't work at Target or Home Depot, or anywhere else.

While I don't necessarily think it's a good thing for them to handle internal business the way they do, it doesn't really bother me. As stated, they are for profit. They have some of the goods I need at substantially lower prices and when I need those goods I've got no problem buying them there.
