WASHINGTON, November 12, 2013—The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) announcement Thursday that it intended to ban trans fats from the American diet will affect many commercially processed foods and small businesses. Even though met with relatively little public or industry pushback, could it forever change the way Americans eat?
“Further reduction in the amount of trans fat in the American diet could prevent an additional 20,000 heart attacks and 7,000 deaths from heart disease each year,” said FDA Commissioner Margaret A. Hamburg in a press release announcing the change.
There's a porn studio (well, there was about 10 years ago) in Deep Ellum. We got called out to tag their fire extinguishers and alarm system. It was interesting, they kept asking us to stick around for the filming they were getting ready for.

Back in the late 90s we had a porn studio open up in garland directly across the street from our office. It lasted maybe 4 to 6 months before the city shut them down. They definitely had some nice looking girls going in that place.
I live in Ventura county which is just NW of Los Angeles county. Most of the porn here is filmed in the San Fernando valley which is just across a mountain from me; the SF valley is in the extreme north west corner of LA county. With the new laws in effect the porn people just moved across the mountain and began to shoot in Ventura county, but then Ventura county quickly enacted their own LA county style laws and shut them down.
Mexico is a couple of hours south, and I expect the industry to relocate just across the border and take their $11 million with them. While some have moral and religious objections to porn it does pump a lot of money into the local economy with support activities like food sales, transportation, lodging, film editing, and so on - money that the taxpayers will have to make up for.
$11 million in taxe revenue seems really, really, really low.

But, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.

I agree. That's the number that was in the article that frost quoted though so I went with it. It did say "revenue to the city" so maybe that explains it.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.
