  • Lost sleep

I sat down tonight to do my paper after the wife and kiddo went to bed and I have to ask, "After doing your work, anyone else have trouble sleeping?" I am not naive about national security and thought I had a decent handle on government and politics but....really? Has anyone else read up on the FISC and not only seen violations of the constitution but outright ripping it up and lining bird cages with it? I'll probably delete this tomorrow but this is distressing. Could be the lack of sleep or the fact I just turned out 9 pages in under 3 hours but this is actually bothering me.

It may bother you but what can you do about it? Just live your life and take care of your family the best you can. If you stress out about things you can't control you will wind up being a bitter old man that pushed people you love away.

It's been pretty over-reaching since at least the Echelon program, but no one will actually go to political battle over the laws that support and enable it. Even these grandstanding Tea Party types won't pay the idea of getting it more than lipservice.

EDIT: There's nothing you can do about it? Factually that is not correct, even if there's nothing you intend to do about it, KKK-Kris.
ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

I wish I knew more about what you are talking about to be honest.

Short part: The FISA (Foreign intelligence court) was created in the 70's and signs those warrants that you don't need to know about that the government uses to take in all the data about everyone. It's a court with secret proceedings, secret rulings and .. oh yes, the accused doesn't have a representative. There's literally the judges and the government agent bringing the case.

It has a review board that has met once. Just once and that was because in 02, the government demanded the ability to ignore wiretapping protocol and allow prosecutors to use FISA information against people criminally (you can't see the information used against you, it's secret) and the court said no. The federal government appealed and, it's still under appeal. There's been that one time and one other time that the FISA court hasn't granted a warrant asked for.

You don't have a right to know you have had your information seized, you don't have a right to be told that you're being looked at, you have no right to know anything at all. It completely ignores the entire bill of rights.

I came to terms that the framework of this nation has been trampled long ago by tyrants. I am only waiting for others to realize it. Should be a good show when it happens.

And that is how we got into this situation to begin with.

I don't sit up at night missing sleep because Tyrone and Shanikwa don't work.

That doesn't mean I don't try to vote in officials that make it harder for them to sit home and do nothing but take my money.

I worry over things I can effect.
