It is real. And I didn't say it was law, I said "infect". Further, even though the UK says the courts have no legitimacy, they aren't prosecuting any of the results from the courts. And even more so, the fear driven by these courts are keeping them underground. From one of the articles:

Won't argue that. I'm merely pointing out that the UK government, while saying they're against it, isn't doing anything to remedy it. In essence, allowing it to happen, turning a blind eye IMO, to not "offend" anybody. US already does that here. In fact, there's a story now that Dallas jails are offering special meals to Muslims. Start placating them, and it's gonna steamroll.

Wait, you want the government to tell people that they can't freely impose rules on themselves? Why do they NEED to shut down the "sharia courts," the rulings they impose aren't affecting anyone that doesn't want to be affected by them. Do you want the UK to violate it's freedom of religion just to help smooth over the fact that you're afraid that their government will adopt that legal system, without any proof that they're actually doing so? Keep in mind, these same freedoms that you're asking the UK to violate are the same ones that we Americans hold as self-evident and inalienable.

About the meals, what's different between the muslims having a halal meal and the jewish people requiring kosher meals? Don't you think people should be able to eat without violating their religious beliefs? Especially when the person implementing the policy is explicitly anti-Islam and states it will cost the state no additional funds?"
