Whatever floats your boat. I'm more of a "if you don't flex your rights you will lose them" type of guy, to each their own.

^^^this. I think the video makes the protesters look like dumb shits. The guy filming should have never put this on the net, it makes him sound like a whack job that shouldn't be allowed to carry. In my protests like this do more harm then good, for their cause.

They definitely could of handled it in a more peaceful manner, but the fact remains that the police are in the wrong. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, even for the police.

The cops very well might have been in the wrong but the public perception will be that there guys are gun carrying nut bags. The majority of the public will not do the research to find out. They will take the video for face value and it makes the gun people look bad. Let's face it these guys are more or less doing this for attention. The open carry movement will not succeed. Let's put our resources to better use and let me be able to carry my gun on me when I take my kids to school and the library instead of being in the car out of reach. That's a fight that should be fought not all this open carry nonsense.

The angry guy was waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy out of line.

Their little demonstration changed absolutely nothing. Hope they enjoyed their time in cuffs.

If it's a replica that uses modern ammunition, then they don't have a leg to stand on and good job to the officers.
WRONG. I checked, they got arrested for Criminal Trespass. The gun is not an element of that offense.

Why were they the only ones arrested for trespassing if it was on public property and they were part of a group?

ok I only got about 3 min into that and got tired of listening to the screaming and profanity

There is probably no one here that loves the 2nd more than I but

                  1) when asked by an official to sign a ticket if you do not comply they will arrest you next time you get pulled over for speeding tell the officer you will not sign and see what it gets ya
                  2) not sure what he was being detained for but I'd guess the ticket was for criminal trespass. If the gun he had holstered was real/replica/toy an officer can ask you to leave any event because your presence might incite a riot
                  3) That looked like the capitol grounds I remember 20+ years ago a guy getting arrested much the same way for open carrying a double barrel shotgun in protest of some law he didn't like the charges they hit him with then was criminal trespass on capitol grounds

I liken this to the Athiest videos I see where they call Christians various names. If you cannot express your opinion in a clear concise method without the use of profanity and verbal abuse please sit the protest out and let those with an IQ higher than the caliber they carry fight the fight.

Personally I'm not a big fan of any carry unlicensed. I've seen too many classes that people have either failed the written, shooting or both tests. I'm sorry if you cannot pass these trivial tests you should not have a gun in public where you might be called upon to shoot it in a life and death situation. but YMMV

If I am wrong, i'll microwave the crow
I bet you are right. The guy running his mouth would have been easy to take to jail for disorderly conduct, language. All they would of had to do is start asking anyone if they were offended. I think they handled it pretty well. You guys think that would have played out the same way in LA?

Not to nitpick, but I thought the only traffic offense that they CAN'T arrest you for is speeding.

You can't be "instantered" (taken to jail) for a State speeding offense unless you refuse to sign.
Now, a lot of cities have "local" speed "ordinances" for roadways in their towns. They CAN arrest you for violating the city ordinance, including the speed offense.

Oh, that's good to know. I was told that by a DeSoto cop many moons ago. Perhaps the laws have changed since then.

Neg. I would like to see a judge that would sign off on that. Now if you did something dumb enough to warrant reckless driving that's a whole different offense.
