im all for officers getting more protection when some asshole is barricaded or some shit hits the fan. the way i see it is, if they have this vehicle, stand offs wont last as long with the ability of saying "fuck your house" as they ram through the front door

Really? Remind me again how long the people in Waco held out before they were burned to death despite the APC's that rolled up. This does nothing to end stand offs because once someone is out of it, they're vulnerable.

Oh it cost tax money. Just federal tax money which we all pay. I agree they need to be on the border not in Dallas or anywhere else I've been in Texas but the border. Those poor Border Patrol guys are outgunned and out numbered most days.

They don't exactly get the for free, they do have to pay a slight fee for them. But this has been going on for a while. There's plenty of agencies with humvees, 113s, helicopters, machine guns, night vision etc. Youre too late start crying about it now.

Free! Well if you consider the fuel to go get them ok then they cost something. Really we just check off a box and then go get it. I have been eyeing them bad boys every time we go but they were not available. LAPD actually has a rig set up to drive around and pick up stuff. The only requirement is we prove we still have them every year. You just can't sell them off.

That would be because the people are supposed to have the power to remove a tyrannous government and handing cops military weapons tends to make them think they're soldiers in a war zone and the constitution doesn't apply to them
