Only one way to find out buddy! I'm sure you would have no problem if there were legal fees.

Clearly we were raised differently. My father was the oldest of nine children. His father died an alcoholic, former worker in the West Virginia coal industry, and pretty much a deadbeat. They moved out of WV when he was a senior in high school. He was on a basketball scholarship to college and had to quit to go to work to help his family make ends meet. My mother and father raised 2 highly successful sons who learned the value of a dollar, the value of friends (family or not), and how to make it through while never doing without anything truly needed and most things wanted. Eighteen years ago, I graduated from the same university he once attended, and it was one of the proudest moments in my life not because I graduated, but because I was able to do so where he once was on that path but stepped away for family.

Along the way, I learned that to get respect, you have to give it. Yes, you can say it is earned, but that works both ways. To me, someone who puts on a uniform and serves others be it military, police, fire, etc. deserves respect. I've found that giving it to them usually gets it in return. The same is true for elders. They've been here a lot longer than me, and I have no right to tell them how things should be. Personally, if you don't respect those in uniform, I think you should GTFO of this country and go somewhere else. Enlisting and serving means you're signing up for something larger than you as an individual. They deserve the respect and honor that should accompany that type of service.

As for kids, they should be grateful and respectful along the way to becoming adults. My father always wanted me to be better off than him in every way, but he wanted me to get there by work that we did. I'm trying to pass the same to my kids and I hope they do the same. Currently, we have too many people with no morals or values. They leach off others and don't contribute anything positive to this country or the lifestyle of others. If that doesn't change, the USA will drift into a nation of people with a belief of entitlement. We're already much closer than I ever thought we'd be. I fault people like you.
What I am about to say may be unpopular, but I need to say it.

While I agree with most of your comments, there are a few that I fully do NOT agree with. They mostly lie with your comments about people joining the police/fire departments/ the military.

My opinion is that people that join those services do NOT automatically command respect and don't automatically qualify as being heroes. It is my opinion that someone has to actually do something to be heroic, to do something to be respected. It isn't something to be given just because someone signed on a dotted line. There are hundreds of thousands of examples of people that signed on that dotted line that are in NO WAY heroic or do not deserve respect. Saying that, any soldier that actually goes into combat, getting shot at while doing his service is a hero, and any fireman that actually goes into a burning building to help someone is a hero, and any police officer that goes above and beyond the call of duty is a hero. BUT, a soldier that never leaves a base in America, or a fireman that never leaves a station, or a cop that only writes tickets is NOT a hero, they are just employees that are doing a job. Sure, they have the ability to do a heroic act, but it actually takes DOING that act for them to be a hero.

I've heard about it many times but that is the first time I have experienced it from Google.

So every Mini with the Union Jack on it is a British patriot, pledging allegiance to the queen? Every BMW owner is secretly a Bavarian die-hard? Porsche owners are actually longing for the days of the Weimar Republic? Ferrari owners want to up and move to the Mexico of Europe?

That's how I see it. Drive American. Why do you think the auto industry took a dump? You know other than the unions running them into the ground.

And yes military should command some respect. They are out there defending your freedom of speech no matter what craziness you might have to say.

Did the individual driving it put the union jack on it? If they did, that is showing their loyalty. Kind of like the idiot fuckers who put Che' stickers on their cars. They think socialism is the bees knees.

I know you're not this idiotic.

It is certainly an option on Minis. So yes, the individual chose the Union Jack.

Unions, competition from abroad, making unquestionably shitty products from 1973-199x (arguably beyond) that led to two generations thinking American cars are junk by default.

And I didn't say a damn thing about the military.

Hate to break it to you, but you live in a global economy. This isn't the 1950's. Most "American" cars have a vast quantity of parts that are made in other countries. There is no such thing as an "American" car, unless you're rolling a '57 Chevy.

Because of shitty money management and more competition? Welcome to capitalism, but they've been deemed "too big to fail."
