just look at the political spectrum the further to the left you go the closer you get to a military dictatorship.
the root of liberalism is tax and spend, the more you tax the more you can spend, and in theory that stimulates the economy, military, social security, and healthcare have been the 3 big parts of that theory.
in contrast republicans in the house are currently talking about major cuts to military spending.
