I agree about the suit thing... Its not 1980, no need to have a fashion show to go to work when you don't see anyone face to face anymore. Everything is done on the web/email/phone... Id be good with not having to wear suits and shit if they cranked the AC down and let it be 78 instead of 70...

I run my current office at 76-78 and we wear shorts and t shirts... it's quite comfortable. Only thing really great about the job is no dress code.

A factory I rep is located in Cleveland. I had a bunch of stuff that was supposed to ship on Friday, and it didn't. I called up today to find out why. They closed at noon that day, due to the "unbearable heatwave". It was 100 degrees...

Yeah. Try explaining why shipments are late to all of your customers in Texas, and around the South. When she told me that, I laughed quite a bit.

Less than half of the houses have A/C up here, but you really only need it maybe a total of a month out of the year for the really hot days. However having been up here 3 years now I have gotten out of my Texas heat acclimation and just 90 degrees feels hot as shit to me now.

I do not run air conditioners in our house. Our house is well insulated, shaded and even in the dead of summer, the attic fan and fans in individual rooms keep it cool enough.

I laugh at people that cannot live without air conditioning.

I've been without AC since Wednesday last week and it has sucked. Lucky we had the rain and cooler temps to help.

This would never happen because there are way too many gigantic fat people who sweat gravy at room temperature. Not only that but most office buildings are not designed to function well without air conditioning. It isn't like you could just open a window. The author of the article is a moron.

Do you get the high humidity? I loved iowa summers in the mid 80's, but the 100% humidity made it suck. Texas is a cake walk imho. Kansas sucks because we get the 110 and the humidity.

I am a fat guy that sweats buttermilk like a whore in church, always have done it even when I was a skinny little kid. I drink several gallons of water a day though.

I totally agree with your second comment though, every building constructed these days cannot function without air conditioning.

One of the main reasons I don't run AC is because it seems to be worse on our bodies to go from working in 100*+ heat outside all day to cold, dry AC at night. It is also the reason I keep the house somewhat cool in the winter, it rarely goes above 60* in our house in winter.

Ok, only if they give up their winter sources of heat.

Some humidity. It's not everlasting like down south, but it happens.

The last part of what you said is true, if you go out into the heat you get used to it. I run at lunchtime several times a week outside and a 95 degree day is no big deal at all unless I am running.

Live without A/C? Live without heat! End of conversation.

Wasn't it Blumberg that had the window unit A/C on a stand rolled out to his SUVs when it was parked?
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.
