  • Individual wants out of combat

Edit: I debated on the terms for the title because he's not a man because he refuses to fulfill his obligation he freely entered into. I can't say soldier for the same reason. What do yall think?

A soldier is fighting his upcoming deployment to Afghanistan using a military regulation that allows soldiers against war to not have to fight.

The Army is still planning to send Private Second Class Christopher Munoz, 22, to Afghanistan despite legal efforts from the soldier where he has stated his personal objections to going to war.

Munoz could not give an interview on his case given his current status in the Army.

He is looking to be discharged from the Army based on what is known as conscientious objection, where soldiers can apply to be removed from deployment based on religious beliefs or personal moral convictions opposing all war.

Munoz applied for a C.O. discharge on June 25, 2013, but the process can take anywhere from 6 to 8 months to complete.

Munoz is scheduled to deploy within the next week even though he has made it clear to his commanders that he is not willing to go to war.

Munoz's wife, Breanna, says that he joined the Army to provide for his family including his 3-year-old daughter, Julissa, and that after his basic training ended in April, his beliefs and attitude toward the idea of being in combat completely changed.

"After he got out of basic, once I was able to start talking to him again, he just seemed really different and had a different attitude about the army and everything versus when he went in, and, once he got here, we found out that he was going to be deployed and everything just kind of got more real, and he just felt like he couldn't do it," Breanna said.

Breanna says that all she wants now is for her husband to be allowed to be let go by the Army, and that she hopes his story can bring awareness to those soldiers who are opposed to fighting in war.

"If he does end up coming home during the deployment, it kind of brings awareness to the other soldiers who don't want to go or who also have the same war inside them to be able to come forward and actually say it, and do something about it," Breanna said.

Lieutenant Colonel Kirk Luedeke of Fort Hood's 1st Cavalry Division says he cannot go into the details of Munoz's case, but that it is still under review.

"The chain of command is aware of his request and is working to process the request, consider it, and take action and render a decision," Luedeke said.

Munoz is being supported by multiple war-resistant groups, and an online petition has been set up to show him support with that petition currently having 164 signatures.

Let him out. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be one of the guys roaming around with him if there was trouble. Dishonorable Discharge.

Yeah. He could be responsible for the deaths of several other soldiers. If he doesn't want to be there, I wouldn't want him there.

I never had any sympathy for those that are willing to VOLUNTARILY sign up for the military, knowing full good and well that they can be sent off to war, or deployed to a miserable place, then they bitch and complain and say this is not what they signed up for. Thankfully I was in combat arms and most of us not only wanted to be there, we felt it was the right thing to do.

Someone should tell him that the odds of him actually getting into contact in Afghanistan right now is very slim. Frost what is his MOS, 88m? lol
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

No discharge. After that every faggot will follow.

Give him a shit job for the rest of his commitment. I started out in a nuclear cruise missile job when I was in the USAF. We had one guy pussy out and said he doesn't believe in nuclear weapons. This happened at our first duty base, After going through half a year of tech school for nuclear weapons. After getting a security clearance. The USAF wasn't gonna just throw out what they spent on the guy. He got reassigned to Civil Engineering Squadron and he was stringing electrical wires on poles on base till his four years were up.

                Fuck this guy.

Every single one of us knows the possibilities\requirements when we raise our hand at MEPS.

Make this guy do total shit jobs for the rest of his enlistment and then give him a general\administrative discharge.

Every single job interview outside of flipping burgers will include questions about his discharge status for the rest of his life.....

He should have to burn the shit in Afghan latrine barrels for his whole deployment.

Give him another job, not combat related, and still him over. Hell I was aircraft crew chief and was almost killed in and IDF attack, a few times. Many ways to die over there, quit being a pussy...
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

Some people don't see any other option. You'd be amazed how many people in their mid 20s have $50k+ of student loan debt piled up and are making $10 an hour. Between student loans and rent there isn't money left for food, nevermind a car payment, insurance, etc...

If he's an 88M he should have expected a deployment, we don't need Army truck drivers here. Every 88M in my wife's BCT platoon that she's still in contact with has gone to either Korea or Afghanistan. His recruiter should have talked about that when he selected the job.

I don't feel sorry for the guy, he had plenty of chances to get booted out before finishing his training. Now that he has a free CDL though he's trying to bail. How does he think a truck driver makes a living in the civilian world? Not usually by being home every night.
