I would definitely recommend to any one rereading 1984 these days. I remember picking it up as a teenager, but not getting past the first chapter. I was shredding through every Vonnegut book I could get my hands on back then, and I think I was too deep into satire and didn't give it a chance. When you look around at the headlines, it's really easy to get drawn into; I'd imagine even more so after the last month.

Is there a book to idiocracy? I would think it is most relevant to our time.
Brave new world has more parallels to today....1984 is creepy, confusing, but has its moments. A good read for sure.
Personally I like Atlas Shrugged....the book is much better than the movies if you can get past the 100 page Galt speeches.

I did my junior theme on Animal Farm, and my senior theme on Nineteen Eighty-Four. That was in 1986 and 1987, respectively. I also read Brave New World during my senior year, just for fun."It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

I'll admit to not reading Brave New World.
But, I'll say that I actually read 1984 BEFORE 1984, it was 81-82 IIRC.
And for the person that made the tag "I'll wait for the movie", there is actually a movie of 1984.
