Sales of George Orwell's 1984 Are Up 5,000 Percent on Amazon

Except that Orwell is probably wrong. Read Aldous Huxley's, "[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Brave-World-P-S-Aldous-Huxley/dp/0061767646/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371215350&sr=8-1&keywords=Brave+New+World"]Brave New World[/ame]" I admit that I haven't read it yet, but I think this graphic makes a strong case that Orwell didn't get it right..

In my defense though, I do own it. I've got a continuous backlog of about 30 books sitting on my shelf that never gets smaller, it just stays about the same size as I finish books and buy more.

Finally read 1984 a year or two ago. Very relevant in these times. It wasn't required in my HS, we read Animal Farm instead. Really liked it a lot.

I haven't read Brave New World yet either, but now I will.

However, 1984 and Animal Farm I have both read several times.

Those who are still writing checks and not searching by "new posts", no doubt.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Never read 1984, and never heard of Brave New World. Also never heard of The Great Gatsby until the movie came out, but apparently some folks had that as required reading in school. Maybe it was because I was in honors classes. Frankly, I don't remember reading anything required. I read plenty of books on my own back in the day.

I kinda miss reading. Might give it a shot again one of these days.

I've read them both. +1 innernets for me

I personally preferred Nineteen Eighty Four.

I would say it is closer to 100%. The amount of people that actually see a life outside of their own is a statistical anomaly.

I liked both of them but I just remember the plots and a few details.
