The thing to remember, as it was explained to me, is that in Texas, shooting someone is always illegal. Chapter 9 provides exemptions to criminal responsibility. That's why even seemingly justified shootings will sometimes go to grand jury before they are no billed or, as sometimes happens, the indictment is returned and then you better hope your pockets are deep.
The problem with getting involved with a third party is that the person you think you are trying to help could easily turn around and fuck you legally, like lying about the circumstances because you just smoked her baby-daddy. Never mind saving her life. Shooting someone can get really expensive, and the third party you tried to help could easily be the cause of your expense.
I'm with ceyko, I do not want to get mixed up with the legal system. It's expensive and is beyond your control. People should carry their own guns for self defense. I carry a phone, and will happily dial 911 and be a witness.
