More than 100 Republican House members are lining up behind a proposal to create a new select committee to investigate the attack last year on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
According to The Hill, the lawmakers don't believe House Speaker John Boehner and other GOP leaders have done enough to examine and report on the tragedy in Libya that took the lives of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans on Sept. 11, 2012.
Virginia Rep. Frank Wolf has introduced a resolution demanding the House create a 19-member select committee to look into the assault by armed gunmen, The Hill reported on Wednesday.
So far, 101 lawmakers have signed on to the motion and hundreds of grass-roots Republicans are pressing other representatives to do the same.
“I don’t think very much has been done,” Wolf said.

“We need to form a select committee and Congress has failed them,” he added, referring to the victims of the military-style assault.
In a move to quell the discontent, Boehner has promised to release an interim report next week from the heads of the committees that have been reviewing the Benghazi attack. The Ohio Republican and panel leaders say a new select committee would be unnecessary and expensive.
Still, Wolf’s resolution has been gaining traction.
“Members really do feel like they need an update,” said Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. “All of this is [about], how do you take a terrible tragedy and prevent it from happening again?”
