just to guage where we really stand from the F you bush letter. i know we all have a loved one who served, serves, or passed due to conflict. this is not a troll, and to add to it i was raised to do better than my father; those were big shoes to fill. i found a way on my own, but i would definitely steer my son away from the pipe trades. so the question for you career military men, or those of you who served just a couple years, would you expect your son to do the same? what if he was a she? i watched a documentary about rape in the military, would you expect your daughters to follow your footsteps know they're is a 6/10 chance she will be raped in the first 3-5 years?

Expect? No. Encourage him to serve the Republic? Yes. If I had a daughter I would encourage the same. Rape happens everywhere. If I was limiting my kids by what may happen, they'd never leave the house

All on them, I served, but times will continue to change and by the time my kids are making these decisions who knows what situation we will be in.

The last person in my family to be in the military was my great grandpa who served in WWII. When I have a kid I will let them be their own person. If they choose the military I will support that decision in every way I can.

I'll definitely be an available resource for my child, and can honestly recommend service, but will not twist arms in any way. P.S. That 6/10 figure is skewed heavily (I've seen how they make their point) not that it isn't a problem.

im a lesbian. 6/10 was my own deductions. maybe 4/10 but those are still the ones who report it. theres a national geographic documentary on netflix about it. any of our servicemen seen it first hand??
