It's a shame that our "leaders" won't exhibit the same diplomacy as Gen Mattis...
"I come in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: if you fuck with me I'll kill you all."
"It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

At least Bush/Cheney had the balls to go after SH. Obama would have apologized and gave him jets and money.

I'm willing to bet I've been there more than him as well. Hell, during the Ft. Hood shooting he was busy with a dinner and telling the democrat union caterers how good they did while throwing a 'shout out' to a Medal of Honor 'winner.' Ranks up there with corpsemen.

That's my view of war. Don't go in willingly but if you pull the trigger, make them regret it for generations

i still dont think you read the letter. I dont think any of you read the letter. or you read it with your blinders on. This man was sent to a "war" for the sake of 2 or 12 business ventures, and was used as a pawn. a plastic army man if you will. he signed up to fight for his country. he ended up fighting for haliburton.

thats not a bad mantra to live by, and almost how i live my own life, thus the reason for me posting this and proclaiming it is not a left/right debate.

speaking of generations, what if your grandfather and father both had ties to the guy you revenged war on to make a name for the family. was that premeditated? is that a war crime? should he be on trial with Joseph Kony?

                      Snopes:

War is hell....here is my take. Its cold and callous, but just the facts:

Voluntarily signs up for army to avenge 9/11.
Gets shot in battle....this happens, bullets are real and the enemy wants to kill you.
                      Blames someone other than himself.

Sounds horrible if you have a third grade view of foreign policy.

Too bad exactly 0% of that is true. But hey, let's not let pesky facts get in the way of anything.

No, you are the one with blinders. We didn't go for a business venture. We got zero oil out of Iraq. He was sent to take out a dictator that the UN and democrats as well as the republicans believed had WMD's (and they were found) and was a direct threat to the US and his own people.

Fighting for Haliburton? You're an idiot.

Let me try to put that into English to see if I understand it. What if my dad and grandfather both had ties to someone I went to war against? Would it be premeditated?

If a war isn't premeditated, I don't want any part of it. It's not a war crime. Obama killing American citizens without due process is a war crime. Going through Congress to send the military to war? Constitutional.
