It's proved itself pretty well in Kennesaw, Ga since the 80s.

Most people don't realize the police have no obligation or responsibility to protect them

This however, is written into the second amendment.
I see no mention of it being my duty to be armed in the text of the second amendment. Perhaps we're talking about something else?

You have the right to own a gun, just like you have the right to not own one. Simple as that.

Not according to Forever_melted. You're obligated to own a gun, says the founding fathers.

The second Act, passed May 8, 1792, provided for the organization of the state militias. It conscripted every "free able-bodied white male citizen" between the ages of 18 and 45 into a local militia company. Militia members were to arm themselves with a musket, bayonet and belt, two spare flints, a cartridge box with 24 bullets, and a knapsack. Men owning rifles were required to provide a powder horn, 1/4 pound of gunpowder, 20 rifle balls, a shooting pouch, and a knapsack.

However you can argue that the Militia act of 1903 put this requirement solely on the National Guard

Just ignore him. His jaded perspective is a result of having lived a life of quiet desperation.

While I like the idea, this is just like Obamacare. Forcing people to buy something they may or may not want.

It can certainly be argued, but since Racr doesn't put any merit in those of us who hold to the original meaning of the document and seems to enjoy incorporation, that means that the obligation to protect the State falls on every level of citizen. Sometimes, it bites both ways

Anytime the government forces you to do anything, its never a good idea.
