However, ALL income, by law, has to be reported to the IRS whether it will be taxed or not.

But please, tell us again how you are not going to report it

Count me as a dodger also... Its not a free ride as you like to claim.

Anytime you pay less than the guy earning the same here in the states its a free ride.

I have been working overseas now for 8 years (going on 9) and each year the TAX EXEMPT amount goes up.. (2012 is at 91,500) But the rules changed a few years ago, so although I may get an exemption for being overseas, any money that goes over that amount gets slammed at a much higher rate.. I still report my entire income and I have taxes taken out every paycheck.

      And rightly so...

Is this a loop hole.. no. Why should I have to pay a higher rate for opting to work outside of the USA in shitty conditions .

YOU made that decision!!! Ask some of the guys working the oilfields in the US about their working conditions!

I sacrifice ALOT by being gone so much. so why shouldn't I be able to get a break on taxes I pay in.. I still pay for anytime I spend money, and I do my part in helping boost the economy...the Gov't stills make money off of MY MONEY...

Again, YOU made that decision, you're not more special than the guy in the fields or any other job here...

Anyone can go overseas and work, its not like only the rich can do it. I left the military after 9 years of service making 25k/yr to do the same job for 5 time that pay.. the gov't is going to spend the our money regardless, so why not capitalize on this and get some of my contributions back...[/QUOTE]

Again, working overseas shouldn't give you you any tax break over the guy working here..

And when they take that break away from us, we will all come back, that same day. Just like any other tax incentive or break. You take them when you can get/find them. Tax avoidance is not tax evasion.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

If you're working outside the US, I don't see why you should pay in here. You're not using any of the services here, are afforded none of the protections nor privileges that come with being in the US

Up until 2009, we didn't have to contribute to SSN/Medcare either. Talk about a 8% pay cut as soon as Obama took it that away from us.

Yes, I'm a US citizen living in the US. If you are using the infrastructure of another country and earning money in another country, you should pay them, not us. If you're talking about a need to broaden the tax base to support the military better, I'm all for it. Flat 10% tax on everyone regardless of what you earned with no upper cap. But if you're not in the US, you're not getting police protection, not getting (individual) military protection, not getting fire protection, not able to use our roads, schools or any of our infrastructure.

Now, if you come back and make a dime, by all means render unto Caesar. Military forces should NEVER pay taxes as they're already offering up their body for the safety of the Republic.

                    HMM..

Last time I checked, our Military is overseas to project our strength and for the protection of our citizens. I do believe our Embassys are there for a reason. I also believe that whatever country you're in, you do pay taxes to them.
Again! your tax dollars are supporting our military at home and overseas..

I wish and pray that we go to a flat tax!

except one is legal and the other is illegal. Everyone does and rightfully should "avoid" paying as much tax as they can. You mean to tell me you don't claim any exemptions?

                      examples of avoidance:
                      non cash charitable contributions
                      non reimbursed work related expenses

                      example of evasion:
                      not reporting income
                      not report gifts
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Right, but you as an individual are not protected by the military. If you're on a ship and there's a news flurry about you being taken over by Somali pirates? Then let's hope that SEALs are called in. You are eligible for zero use of our infrastructure with you being overseas and do you think you have the same rights as a US citizen in Dubai as a US citizen in the US?

Yes, tax dollars support the military. However if you're not in the US and earned not one dime in the US, the federal government has no right to that money as you used nothing of theirs to make it.
