If you spends more than 330 days in a foreign country (international waters don't count) and your tax home is not in the US (you move out of the US and maintain a foreign home), then you can exclude from federal tax, the first $85,700 in income earned abroad.Natural law. Sons are put on this earth to trouble their fathers.

I currently collect unemployment, and have been since September. My last job laid me off 2 days before I was supposed to go back to work from having foot surgery. Unfourtunately, the foot surgery that I had didn't take so I was walking around in a walking boot with a broken bone. No shop will take the liability of having an employee working in a shop with a walking boot. So I had another foot surgery 2 weeks ago to try to fix the broken bone so I can hopefully get back to work in a couple of months.
In the mean time, I would love to have some kind of job that I could do because I HATE feeling like a bum. Not being able to put weight on my foot though really limits what I can do.
I HATE unemployment and I HATE feeling like a bum. I'd be all for drug testing before you can get a check.Annoying people, one post at a time!

Don't feel that way.. You're using a safety net that was put there to help cases like yours. Its the people who abuse the system that make it bad for the people who do need the help. Been there, done that and am so glad those programs were there to help my family when we needed it.Natural law. Sons are put on this earth to trouble their fathers.

And yeah, I am serious.
SS is the govs 401k plan they fucked up. It's not like we the people really have a choice.
True disability patients are on it for a reason. My mother who is going through back surgery and fighting cancer while her kidney's are shutting down is a good example.
Someone that broke their foot so all they do is sit in front of the tv all day and watch Jerry springer needs to get there ass desk job or something."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. I have been working overseas now for 8 years (going on 9) and each year the TAX EXEMPT amount goes up.. (2012 is at 91,500) But the rules changed a few years ago, so although I may get an exemption for being overseas, any money that goes over that amount gets slammed at a much higher rate.. I still report my entire income and I have taxes taken out every paycheck.
Is this a loop hole.. no. Why should I have to pay a higher rate for opting to work outside of the USA in shitty conditions .
I sacrifice ALOT by being gone so much. so why shouldn't I be able to get a break on taxes I pay in.. I still pay for anytime I spend money, and I do my part in helping boost the economy...the Gov't stills make money off of MY MONEY...
Anyone can go overseas and work, its not like only the rich can do it. I left the military after 9 years of service making 25k/yr to do the same job for 5 time that pay.. the gov't is going to spend the our money regardless, so why not capitalize on this and get some of my contributions back...

DOHCTR also as for non reportable income... Tread lightly.. IRS has a interesting way of finding out how much you made and penalizing you for not reporting it correctly .
BTW the Tax emption amount goes up a little each year. the amount is now 95,100 for 2012. I know since I just filed my taxes a few days ago...
IF your overseas and earn an income, you better report it.. even if your paid by a foreign company. Guys I know that worked in Saudi for years, didn't report their income and most of them got bit in the ass a few years later with very hefty fines. it doesn't play to mess with the IRS. Besides if your making 95,100 or less, you will not owe any taxes so do the right thing. SAve you a lot of headache later down the road.
